Miss Chicken is on the Move

May 6, 2006 found Miss Chicken in Morton Mississippi for "Morton Day in the Park". We had many friends come by to see the car and say hi. Jody and Chris Phillips of Morton were two special visitors. Their Dad, Darlyn Phillips, had a dirt track car back in the 1960’s and he raced against Miss Chicken. This was their first time to see the car. We fired up the old Flathead V-8 Ford to let them feel the power. It wasn’t long before a large crowd gathered. Seems very few of them had ever heard the roar of a souped up Flathead. Pictured here are Chief Mechanic Buddy Taylor, Apprentice Mechanic Jimmy Lynn Chesnut and Carburetor Man Rayford Palmer.

Jack Brown Gets His Rattletrap II Ready to Run

Climb In, Buckle Up and Hang On!! Jack Brown, a long time Jackson Area Racer and Mississippi Racing Historian, has this 1929 Ford “B-Car” that he’s rebuilding. He has a 6-cylinder GMC truck motor that’s ready to be installed. This motor will provide plenty of torque to power the car around the track. It should be ready for the track this summer. Come on out and see Rattletrap II and Miss Chicken in action at the “Ival Cooper Memorial Race” at the Simpson County Motorsports Park in Mendenhall/D'lo Mississippi July 7th and 8th.
